What is Legacy Living?
Legacy living. Those two words struck me. This was actually a hashtag I came across. It made me think {which can sometimes be scary!}.
What does legacy living mean?
The things we do, the things we say, and the choices we make. These things are creating the roadmap to our legacy.
Maybe it’s age. Maybe it’s wisdom. Maybe it’s life lessons. Maybe it’s a little bit of all three. Or maybe it’s being in the “season” of life where you think about WHAT MATTERS.
How can I make a positive difference {on my tiny piece of real estate on this earth} that will have a lasting impact long after I’m gone?
Well that’s a lot to contemplate! Much more thought provoking than should I eat Blue Bell Moollennium Crunch or cottage cheese ice cream. {Sorry cottage cheese; Blue Bell for the win!}
When I think about making a difference or making an impact my first thought certainly isn’t me. It’s someone like Dolly Parton. Because, I mean, Dolly does BIG things.
But you know what? So do each one of us.
In our place in this big world we each have the opportunity to leave a lasting imprint.
That person at work that you helped with an Excel spreadsheet {I am not this person}; you showed them teamwork.
The elderly man in the grocery store who told you a story about his wife while you waited to check out; you made him feel heard.
The tears you wiped from your little boys face when he was scared to leave the car on the first day of school; you made him feel safe and loved.
What you say. What you do. How you do it. You matter.
While we may not be proud of all of actions {I’m raising my hand here} and not all were made with our legacy in mind; we can take all of our experiences and lessons and create a meaningful roadmap to a beautiful legacy.
I mean, let’s be honest, everyone’s GPS gets off course at some point and we just have to reboot!
How am I legacy living? What am I doing, on my tiny piece of real estate, that will have lasting meaning?
{Insert the sound of crickets}
I don’t have the answers BUT what I do know is I am going to work towards being more intentional in my actions. Living with a sense of purpose, meaning and fulfillment.
My first action is to listen to some Dolly while I eat my Moollennnium Crunch. Baby steps.
What does legacy living mean for you?
